Gaz Gadgets is a small hobby shop run by an individual in Australia. This policy explains what information the site collects, why, who it's shared with, and what you can ask us to do with it. It applies to everyone who uses gazgadgets.com, wherever you live.

What we collect
When you place an order
- Your name and email address, which we use to send your receipt and download links.
- The items you bought, the amount paid and the order date.
- For physical items only, your shipping address.
Payment details. Card payments are handled entirely by Stripe on its own secure page. Your card details go straight to Stripe and never reach our server. Stripe tells us whether the payment succeeded.
When you contact us. Your name, email address and message are emailed to us so we can reply. They aren't stored on the website.
When you request your download links again. We use your email address to look up your order and send the links.
When you visit the site. Each page you view is recorded along with:
- your IP address
- your browser type (user agent)
- the page you came from
- any campaign tag in the link (for example
?utm_source=youtube) - how far down the page you scrolled
We use this to see which pages are useful, which links bring people here, and to filter out automated bots. We don't use it to identify you, and we don't build profiles of individual visitors.
Cookies and browser storage
The site uses:
- One session cookie. It's needed for the shop to work, and it protects forms from misuse. It expires when you close your browser.
- Browser storage for your cart. Your cart is kept in your own browser's local storage until you check out.
We don't use advertising cookies or third-party analytics. Because the session cookie is strictly necessary, we don't ask for cookie consent.
Why we use your information
- To fulfil your order: process payment, deliver your downloads or ship your item, and send related emails.
- To answer your messages.
- To run and protect the site: understand how it's used, detect bots and abuse, and fix problems. This is in our legitimate interest, and the data is kept to a minimum.
- To meet legal obligations, such as keeping tax records.
We don't sell your information, and we don't use it for marketing. We'll only email you about your order or in reply to you.
Who we share it with
We use a small number of service providers to run the shop:
- Stripe: processes payments and screens them for fraud. Stripe handles your payment information under its own Privacy Policy.
- Amazon Web Services: hosts the website and database, and sends our emails, from its Sydney (Australia) region.
- Cloudflare and Google: emails you send to gaz@gazgadgets.com are forwarded by Cloudflare and stored in a Google (Gmail) mailbox.
- OpenStreetMap (Nominatim): if you use suburb autocomplete at checkout, the text you type is sent from your browser to OpenStreetMap to find matching suburbs.
We may also disclose information if the law requires it.
Information sent outside Australia
The website and database are hosted in Australia. Stripe, Cloudflare, Google and OpenStreetMap may process information in the United States, Europe or other countries. Each of them has its own privacy commitments.
How long we keep it
- Visit logs, including IP addresses: 90 days. After that they're reduced to daily totals with no personal information.
- Order records: kept so we can resend your downloads if you need them again, and for at least 5 years as Australian tax law requires. After 5 years you can ask us to delete your order details.
- Download links: expire after 30 days or 10 downloads, whichever comes first.
- Emails: kept in our mailbox until no longer needed.
Security
The site uses HTTPS throughout. Card details never reach our server. Access to order information is limited to the shop owner.
Your rights
Wherever you live, you can ask us to:
- give you a copy of the information we hold about you
- correct it
- delete it (order records we must keep for tax are kept until that period ends)
- stop using it for a particular purpose
Email gaz@gazgadgets.com. We'll reply within 30 days.
If you're not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (oaic.gov.au) or to the data protection authority in your own country.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle your information, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
